"As a kid, my Dad would tune his guitar, set it in the corner and go off to work saying, 'Don't play that guitar; I just tuned it.' He wasn't out of driveway before I had it in my hands. I never knew why he had that 'cat that swallowed the canary look' every day when he left the house. I now know that Dad was encouraging me in his own way. He would sing songs to get us going in the morning, which he would improvise about our daily life. Dad was a great teacher. My early influences include Cat Stevens, Jim Croce, Bob Seger, ZZ Top, Jeff Beck, Johnny Winter, and so many more. I have had the pleasure of sharing the studio and stage with my brothers, sons, and several friends over the years through many projects including the 'Short Brothers Band' and the 'Short Brothers' duo-acoustic show."
"It all began with Mom's pots, pans, and Tupperware bowls. Mom & Dad introduced me to Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Mel Taylor, Ringo Starr, and Dave Clark. When I was 13 years old, my brother Jim came home from Japan with a brand new drum kit. It wasn't long before my first band, 'The Gents,' formed. Then in 1968, it was John Bonham & Keith Moon influencing a string of bands ending in 1980 with 'The Harding Brothers Band.' I took time off from playing to raise twin sons Andrew & Billy, both excellent drummers. Listening with them to 'Little Feat's' Richie Hayward and playing with the Brother Short Band, my passion for playing has been rekindled. Of all the things God could have made me, He made me a drummer. For that, I am eternally grateful."
Lynn King joined the Brother Short Band in September of 2013. He previously played with 'The Magnificents,' a Morgantown-based cover band. Lynn's bass playing techniques bring a unique driving force to each Brother Short Band performance, tightly packing the space between Greg's 12 string guitar and Bill's drumming. Heavily rooted in blues progression and R&B groove, Lynn's beefy blues riffs transcend when most are playing it safe.
